Wilma Margaret Hill

CARBONDALE - Wilma Margaret Hill, 85, of Carbondale, IL formerly of Lincoln, IL passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 peacefully at Manor Court in Carbondale, IL. 

Wilma was born February 14th, 1939, at home in Lincoln, IL to LaVerne E. Sr. and Edna D. (Robbins) Olmstead. She was born the 8th child out of 9. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Denise (Mark) Prince of Carbondale, IL and Lisa Bentz of Lincoln, IL, five grandchildren, John Bentz, Joshua Bentz of Lincoln, IL, Thomas (Jordy) Bruce of Muncie, IN, Stephanie Prince, Brett Prince of Carbondale, IL, and six great grandchildren; siblings, Donna Hahn of Mt.Pulaski, IL , Sandra (Don) Shull of Middletown, IL and Tom Olmstead of Morton, IL and several nieces and nephews. 

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Edna Olmstead, brothers; LaVerne Olmstead. Jr., Charles Omstead, James Olmsted and sisters; Virginia Baker, Dorothy Sillett. 

Wilma worked various jobs in Lincoln, IL which included an aide at the State School, evening cook at St. Clara Manor, laundry employee at Lincoln Village Healthcare. She was a member of Jeff Street Christian Church in Lincoln, IL and attended every Sunday until her move to Carbondale, IL. 

Wilma loved coloring adult color sheets with colored pencils and was very creative in her work. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and racing on TV, word search puzzles, playing bingo and the live music that would perform at Manor Court.
