Warren H. Wiswell

CARBONDALE - Warren H. Wiswell, 92, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at Century Assisted Living with his loving wife by his side. He was born December 11, 1920, the son of Wilbur and Mae (Hughes) Wiswell. He married Marjune Clutts on September 15, 1943at St. Louis, MO. Warren served his country honorably in World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was Staff Sergeant and waist gunner on B17's making 30 bombing missions over Germany. He was a member of 8th Air Corps. Warren graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1938. He retired from Swindell and J. Pearls Motors in Carbondale after 34 years. He was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Warren's quiet exemplar Christian life and sense of humor positively influenced many people during his lifetime. He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Marjune of Carbondale, one brother Eldon (Virginia) Wiswell of Herrin, one nephew Jim Wiswell of Mulberry Grove, two nieces Beverly Craft, Big Bear City, CA and Sheryl Koch, Liberty Lake, WA; also someone special to Warren, Madhav Sharma of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Woods, brother Clinton, two nephews Milton and Sam Woods. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Lakeland Baptist Church, Carbondale, with Pastor Phil Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the church. Entombment with Military Services will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to Lakeland Baptist Church or Passages Hospice and will be accepted by the funeral home. Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.
