Wallace Lavern “Lucky” Morgan, died December 1, 2017 at home, after a 2 year battle with lung cancer. He was born on June 3, 1936 in Ava, Illinois, to Wallace and Iva Saul Morgan.
In May of 1954, he married Roberta June Dillon, of McClure, Illinois. Three children were born, daughter, Cynthia [Gene] Ellet, and sons, Michael [Pam] Morgan and John Bradley [Vanessa] Morgan, all of Grand Tower. His parents moved to Grand Tower in 1942, where Lucky lived and farmed his entire life. He raised cattle, hogs, and grain.
He worked hard and continuously helped in the fight against flood waters of the Mississippi River. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, two sons, and brothers, Alvin Lee Morgan, of Bowling Green, KY, and Carl Ed Morgan, of Terra Haute, IN. His legacy will continue through his six grandchildren, Amanda [Darren] Morgan of Du Quoin, Joyce Morgan of Ava, Trisha Morgan of Grand Tower, Jonnie Ellet of Grand Tower, Maggie [Austin] Treece of Wolf Lake, Christopher Morgan of Grand Tower, and great grandson Karson Dubach of Du Quoin. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Wallace and Iva Morgan, sister, Verna Campbell, and grandson, Joe Robertson.Visitation will be Monday night from 4 to 8 at the Methodist Church in Grand Tower, with services on Tuesday at 11 at the church. Burial will be at Goodbread Cemetery north of Grand Tower. Friends may give to the family to help with expenses or donate to the Methodist Church of Grand Tower. Meredith Funeral Home is in charge of services.
