Venida Mckinnies

DE SOTO - Venida McKinnies, 94, passed away on November 16, 2021 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Venida was born on January 27, 1927 in Marion to George and Cynthia (Jolly) Parks. Venida married Loyd McKinnies on February 24, 1947 in Carbondale and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2010. Venida worked with her husband managing the office of their trucking company for over 40 years. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church which is now the Ridge Church. Venida loved to cook and spending time with family and friends. Venida is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jerry H. and Deann McKinnies of De Soto; daughter, Judy A. Harbison of Marion; brother, Theador Parks of Marion; sisters, Thelma Pully of Herrin and Betty Miller of Cambria; three grandchildren, Daniel Fox, Michael (Jeri) McKinnies, and Kelli (Brad) Bean; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Ron Harbison. Funeral services for Venida will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Rev. Wes Henson officiating. Burial will follow at De Soto Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
