Thomas Fausto Lightfoot

CARBONDALE - Thomas Fausto Lightfoot, 28, of Carbondale, IL, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 30, 2022 in Philadelphia.

Thomas leaves behind his mother Maria, siblings Jorge (wife Rae), Sarah (husband Rob and beloved niece Sabina), and Marcos; and a large extended family spanning across the globe. He was preceded in death by his father David in 2020.

Thomas (or Tom, as many of his friends knew him) was beloved by countless people across the world for so many reasons, not least of all his generous heart. His passion for helping others led him to pursue medicine as a career. He attended Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy ('12) and Drexel University ('17) majoring in biomedical engineering. He went on to have a career that spanned many areas of medicine, with 6 of those years as a clinical research coordinator. He cared deeply about his patients and was planning to become a doctor.

It is impossible to sum up what Thomas meant to his friends and family in words. Thomas was caring, passionate, funny, and had a personality that was larger than life. His favorite thing to do would undoubtedly be spending time with his friends, playing games (Catan or Nintendo!), and simply connecting with others.
