Murphysboro - Theresa (Dethrow) Walters Sumner, 55, passed away at 10:06 a.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 at home, following a long illness. She was born on June 16, 1957 to Bernard P. and Barbara V. (Dethrow) Sandbothe. She was adopted by her maternal grandparents Lester V. and Odelia C. Dethrow in 1962. She was married to Isaac (Tim) Sumner on May 27, 1983. She was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked as a cashier, commercial cleaner, daycare provider, and teacher's aide. She is survived by her husband, Tim Sumner of Ava; daughter and son-in-law Mandy and Darren King of Murphysboro; brother and sister-in-law Scott Sandbothe and Tina Williams of Jefferson City, MO; adopted sister and brother-in-law Edna and Joe Thompson of Jackson, MO; adopted sister and brother-in-law Gail and Bob Moranville of Hillsboro; adopted brother and sister-in-law Lester Thomas and Glenna Dethrow of Banderra, TX; adopted brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Maggie Dethrow of Columbia, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her three sons, Jason and Gregory Walters and Joshua Taylor; mother and father Bernard and Barbara Sandbothe; maternal grandparents Lester and Odelia Dethrow; fraternal grandparents Ben and Lena Sandbothe; and brother Matthew Price Sandbothe. Visitation will be at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.. Funeral service will follow at 4:15 p.m. with Pastor Peggy Camp officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation or St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
