Sophia Richardson Holloway

Sophia Richardson Holloway, 85, of Covington, Louisiana passed on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Carbondale, Illinois surrounded by her loving family.



Sophia was born on September 10, 1934 to Walter and Sophia (Roach) Richardson in New Orleans, LA.



Sophia is survived by her children, Elizabeth Southerland “Betsy”, Luther W. Holloway III “Trip”; Walter Richardson Holloway “Rick”; Michele Hooper “Shelly”; and 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; by Luther W. Holloway, Jr., her husband of 63 years; and by her sister, Elizabeth Doyle.



During her eighty-five years Sophia pursued many different hobbies and endeavors including photography, painting, writing, sewing and cooking. Reading her Bible and mystery books gave her great delight. Her family was always number one in her thoughts and prayers. She is now reunited with her beloved husband and is praising her Savior Jesus Christ together with him.



A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18th at Cornerstone Reformed Church, 1201 S. Giant City Road in Carbondale, IL.
