Shirley Connelly

CARBONDALE – Shirley Connelly, 88, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Manor of Court of Carbondale.



Shirley was born on October 13, 1931 to Frank and Ellouise (Snyder) Smith of Carbondale.



Shirley is survived by her children, Robin Elizabeth Platt-Reed , Laurie Ann Easley (Platt) and Shawn Patrick Connelly, all of Carbondale; her grandchildren, Cecile Aimee Potter, Devarsi Iris and Daniel Gregory Platt, all of Carbondale; Ian Andrew Platt-Yamamoto of Atlanta, GA, Owen Donald Connelly, Jameson Keith Connelly and Reagan Nelle Connelly, all of Carbondale; her siblings, Carmen Merod of Florissant, MO, Jacquelyn Mihalopulos of Carbondale, Jim Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Frank “Bud” Smith of Carbondale.



She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Charles “Davey” Platt.



Shirley worked as a professional portrait artist and tailor for many years. Later in life, she most enjoyed spending time with family, interior decorating, sketching, birdwatching and pampering her beloved cat, Sir Robert “Bob” the Cat.



A celebration of life/memorial service is pending.
