Shirley Baumann-Mueller

CARBONDALE - Shirley Baumann-Mueller, 95, of Carbondale, passed away from this world on July 10, 2012 at 10:04 p.m. at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, with her loving children by her side. Shirley was born March 6, 1917 in Chicago to Eli and Alfreida (Guhn) Lindsay. She was united in marriage with Clarence Edward Baumann 1948 in Chicago. He precedes her death. Shirley is survived by one son, Bill Baumann of Carbondale; one daughter, Rhea Krueger of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Mollie, Emma, Sean Baumann, Kurt Wetzler M.D. and Kristin Arce; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. Shirley was an office manager for 25 years, and a life member of St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Memberships include Director of Brain Injury Association of Illinois and an active volunteer with Des Plaines Senior Center. She was an avid sailor and participated in sailing races until the age of 75; her love of sailing will carry on with her son, Bill. A Service of remembrance will be in Chicago and Carbondale at a later date. Meredith Funeral Home & Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
