Shiek Yassin Dallow

Shiek Yassin Dallow (Yassin), passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, at the age of 88 in Carbondale, IL. He was born on January 1, 1935, in Syria, where he received his education. He launched his early career in banking and finance in different countries. Returning to Syria, he later became the chief financial officer of a salt mining company for two decades then transitioned to the oil industry until he retired in 1995. Yassin and his wife, Yumna, relocated to the United States in 2012.

Yassin was known for his remarkable wit, and erudition. He was an avid reader of literature, history, and politics, and maintained an active involvement in those circles along a busy career and a life of hard work and perseverance. He also loved music and dance and tried to enjoy life despite all the difficulties. He knew his way into other’s hearts and always made them smile.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Yumna, his children Yara, Raed, Ninar, and Karam, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Yassin's life will be held at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, on Friday, August 25th, from 4 pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity as a tribute to Yassin's generous spirit.
