Sharon R Pohl

CARBONDALE - Sharon R. Pohl, 74, passed away at 8:06 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Sharon was born Mary Sharon Reisinger on November 30, 1937 to Willard Eugene and Mary Eleanor (Wheatoff) Reisinger in Rockwood. She married Robert "Bob" Pohl August 30, 1958 in Chester. They just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past August. Sharon is survived by her husband, Bob Pohl; one son, John (Kami) Pohl of Plymouth, MN.; two daughters Karen (Dave) Borger of Garland, TX., and Lisa York of Mesquite, TX.; one sister, Judy DeAtley of Champaign; seven grandchildren, Kristy (Johanne) Paguio, and Amy Borger of Richardson, TX., Michael (Tiffany) York, Stephen York, and Matthew York all of Mesquite, TX., Shannon Borger of Garland, TX., and Kara Pohl of Plymouth, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents. Sharon graduated from Southern Illinois University with a teaching degree. She held an administrative assistant and teaching position at Carbondale Community High School. She also volunteered at Parrish Elementary school. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale. She was a beloved and gentle wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family, reading, piano, cooking and sewing. Her faith, her unselfish and devoted love, and her laughter and sense of humor brought happiness to everyone around her. We miss her so much, but in faith we know she is with Christ Jesus and in that same faith in Him, we will all be together again. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with a Vigil Prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance, and may be made out to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale and will be accepted at the funeral home.
