DuQuoin - Sharon Kay Lingle passed away peacefully at home with her family, at the age of 65, on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. On May 31, 1949 Sharon was born in Carbondale, in the Old Holden Hospital, the daughter of Josephine and Orrie Hatley. . She married Donald R. Lingle on February 3, 1967 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They celebrated 47 years of marriage. Sharon attended grade school and high school in Carbondale. After her children were in school she entered John A Logan College and received her Registered Nurse degree. She worked at St Joseph hospital for one year before joining the dialysis unit in Carbondale where she enjoyed helping and becoming friends with all the clients. Sharon then joined the Murphysboro Clinic working for Dr. Karen Strack and Dr. Janet Robinson. When she moved to Springfield with her husband, she was employed by the Sangamon County Health Department before retiring because of health reasons. Sharon is survived by her husband, Don; her daughter, Dawn M. Oestricher and husband Kevin, of Elkville; son, Andrew S. Lingle, of DuQuoin; mother, Josephine Cooper; brother, Stephen Cooper, of DuQuoin; sister, Susan Baker and husband Kenneth, of Dallas, Texas; mother-in-law, Wilma Lingle, of Anna; grandchildren, Danielle and Erin Shupe, Brianna Oestricher, Tristan, Juliette and Gavin Lingle; great grandson, Dawson Eric Tilley. She was preceded in death by her father, stepfather, father-in-law and both sets of grandparents. Sharon enjoyed being with family and friends. She liked fishing, riding motorcycles and most of all finding treasures at antique stores throughout Illinois. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Eulogy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014, at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Elkville cemetery; family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery. Memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois are the preferred form of remembrance and will be accepted at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale.
