De Soto - Ruth Helen Hicks, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 in her home.
Ruth was born September 13, 1929 Herrin to George and Myrtle (Blue) Legan.
She married Isaac "Ike" Hicks on January 19, 1950 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2022. They were married for 72 years.
Ruth is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Howard Lee "Butch" (Linda) Hicks of De Soto; two granddaughters, Sheila (Darren) Snyder of Carbondale and Amy (Wayne "WA") Taylor of De Soto; and four great grandchildren, Hayden Snyder, J.J. Snyder, Montana and Gracie Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike; parents; brothers, Earl, Clyde, Ray and John; sisters, Lena Norman, Gladys Kawoski, and Mary Starnes.
Ruth was a woman of grace and kindness who touched the lives of all who knew her. Throughout her life, she found her greatest joy in raising her family and creating a warm and loving home. Ruth loved spending time with family, especially going to her grandchildren's ball games. More recently enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren coach. She was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church. Her dedication to her loved ones was unwavering, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Interment will be at De Soto Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
