Ruth Bernardine Doetch

CARBONDALE – Ruth Bernardine Doetch, 79, of Carbondale passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.



Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Phil Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Hiller Cemetery, Carbondale. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.



Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Lakeland Baptist Church, Carbondale and will be accepted by the funeral home.



Bernardine was born on November 29, 1936 to Emory and Goldia (Provence) McCalla. She married Floyd Doetch on February 22, 1951 at Piggot, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2009.



Survivors include two sons, Richard Doetch of Eureka, California and Danny Doetch of Moore, South Carolina; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Kathryn and Ron DeZwarte of Hamilton, IA, Vicki and Brian Willis of De Soto, and Susan Bolen of De Soto; ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren.



She is preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Paul, John, Donald, David, Lee, James and Dale McCalla; and three sisters, Martha Nance, Elaine Jeter, and Frances Claps.



Bernardine was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale. She worked for the Center for Independent Living in Carbondale for over 20 years and retired in 2007.
