Ruby L. Morris

CARBONDALE – Ruby L. (Goldsmith) Morris, 98, of Carbondale, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at The Landings.



Ruby was born on May 10, 1922 in Campbell, MO to Enos Eli and Jessie Valentine (Hamilton) Goldsmith. She married Carl E. Morris in 1940. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1999. They had no children.



When Ruby was four her mother died. At age eleven she went to live with her half-brother Bill and his wife Beulah in southern Illinois. She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. Ruby spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.



Ruby is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Bill Smith of Springfield, TN who was like a son to her.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers and two sisters.



Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Todd Greiner officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30am until the time of service at the funeral home.
