Roy Ardell Clark, 83, passed away on February 6th, 2012 at his residence in Carbondale. Roy was born in Vergennes, February 11, 1928, son of Hersley and Grace Adams Clark. Roy married Dorothy Hale, July 28th, 1948 and she survives. Other survivors include two children, Roy (Rodeo) Glenn Clark of Elkville, and Phyllis Jean Fisher and husband Randy of Winchester; six grandchildren, Robin Stumpf and husband Tim of Mansfield, John Clark and wife Jama, of McLeansboro, Brandon Fisher and wife Bethany of Troy, Alicia Holland, and husband Mike of Kansas City, MO, Morgan Harling and husband Robbie of Troy, and McKea Fisher; seven great grandchildren Atley Stumpf, Christopher Estep, David Stumpf, Leycosta Clark, Samuel Clark, Chloe Fisher and Skyler Harling. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lola Duncan and Minerva Martin; three brothers, William Duncan, Wilburn Clark and James Clark. Roy retired fro Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after 44 years of service. He was a life long member of the United Transportation Union, past President of Station Carbondale and was involved in procuring and placing of engine and caboose and modeled for "The Railroader Statue" that sits near the old Depot. Roy served the United States Army from May 1946 until June 1947. Roy was a member of the Christian Covenant Fellowship in Carterville. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be in DeSoto Cemetery. The preferred form of remembrance are memorials made to the Christian Covenant Fellowship or TIP Hospice and will be accepted by the funeral home.
