Robert Parrott

MURPHYSBORO - Robert “Bob” Parrott, 94, passed away on May 2, 2022 at St. Louis University.



Bob was born on July 22, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Clint and Marie (Piper) Parrott.



Over the years Bob worked for a variety of auto shops in southern Illinois and he also worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections until his retirement. Bob was a very avid bowler his whole life. He received an 800 series ring in September of 1994, a 300 game ring in March and October of 2009.



Bob is survived by his daughter Gale (Gary) Hawk of Murphysboro, IL, sons, Steve (Lucy) Parrott of San Juan, TX and son, Robert D. Parrott of Murphysboro, IL; grandchildren, Sherry (Scott) Swalek of Pilot Point, TX, Buzy Parrott of San Juan, TX, Lucas Parrott and Shay Stroud of Mounds, IL, Elizabeth Parrott of Murphysboro, IL, and Carmen Murphy; and ten great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.



Services for Bob will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Rev. John Annable officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.



Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
