Richard "Dick" Bradley

CARBONDALE – Richard “Dick” Warren Bradley, 78, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.



Dick was born on March 13, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Owen and Vivian (Smith) Bradley. On July 27, 1962 he married Ellen Morse at Riverside, Illinois and spent over 55 wonderful years together.



Dick is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; daughter, Àlison Schneider of St. Peters, MO; sons, Steve Bradley and wife Michelle of Herrin, Aaron Bradley of Atlanta, GA and Jason Bradley of St. Louis, MO; brother, Allen Bradley and wife Sally of Thornton, CO; and grandchildren, Justin and Evan Schneider and Owen and Jordyn Bradley.



He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nancy Ponton.



Dick retired after 35 years as a professor at SIU-C in the educational psychology department and had enjoyed his guilt free naps ever since. His memberships included the Lions Club, Numbskulls and Learning In Retirement. Dick loved to sing in the choir, gardening, travel, golf, reading, poker group, delivering meals on wheels, people watching, and enjoying his many friends.



Per Dick’s wishes, no funeral services will be held but a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.



Memorials may be made to a local charity of the donor’s choice.
