Raymond Lewis Blumenstock

September 25, 2018 — August 24, 2012

DeSoto-Raymond Lewis Blumenstock passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at home surrounded by his family. Raymond was born September 25, 1918, in Marion, to Johnny and Lucy (Beasley) Blumenstock. He married Eleanor Loraine Novack on December 3, 1948 in Murphysboro. She precedes him in death. Raymond is survived by three children; sons, John (Jean) Blumenstock, Paul (Cindy) Blumenstock all of DeSoto; daughter, Lois (Walter) Clark of Sesser; one brother, Howard Blumenstock of DeSoto; three sisters, Mildred Panturis and Clara Taylor both of DeSoto and Wilma Pulcifer of Scottsboro, AL; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Calvin Blumenstock. Raymond was involved with farming from the age of 10 years old, when he plowed with a team of horses with his father and was still actively farming in 2010. He was an active member of the Carbondale Congregation of Jehovah's Witness since November 30, 1942. Raymond read the bible each and every day, and he had a deep knowledge of bible history and prophecies. For a period of time spanning some 30 years, Raymond conducted funeral services from Mt Vernon to Cairo. Many families who were not associated with Jehovah's Witnesses requested Raymond to care for their family's funeral service, because of his deep bible knowledge of the resurrection. Raymond looks to the bible prophecies of Psalms and Isaiah being fulfilled when "Christ Jesus will rule as king of the kingdom" that Jesus taught us to pray for in Matthew 6:10. His desire is to be one of the "Meek who would inherit the earth" Jesus spoke of in his famous sermon on the mount. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 9490 IL Route 148, Carterville, Illinois. Officiating will be Richard L. Frakes. There will be no visitation. To leave an on-line condolence, please visit, www.meredithfh.com.
