Ralph Snider

De Soto - Ralph Snider, 89, went to be with the Lord at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by his family. Ralph was born February 22, 1926 in Blairsville, the son of Ralph and Flora (Williams) Snider. He married Doris Knight on April 19, 1946 in De Soto. Together they shared 69 years of marriage and had six children. She survives and is of De Soto. Ralph is also survived by his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott Snider of De Soto, Larry and Tiffany Snider of De Soto, Gary and Michelle Snider of Augusta, GA; three daughters and a son-in-law, Jeri Webb of Herrin, Cindy Byrnes of De Soto and Kim and Jim Stodghill of Land of Lakes, FL; brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Ann Snider of De Soto; sister, Kathrine Ashley of College Park, MD; eight grandchildren, Danny Snider, Phillip Martin, Christopher Martin, Seth Stodghill, Keri Rushing, Savanna Snider, Shianna Snider and Ashley Rivera; nine great grandchildren and a special family friend, Raedell LeForge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Reatha Claire, Genevieve Snider, Georgia Canady and Caroline Shook, and a son-in-law, Leon Byrnes. Ralph proudly served in the United States Army from 1946 - 1947. He was a member of the American Legion Post #645 in Hurst, and well thought of in the community of De Soto. He was a beloved husband and father, and his children are all very proud of his ability to make the best of whatever befell him during his life. Funeral services for Ralph will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale with Rev. Josh Wehrmeier officiating. Interment will be at De Soto Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #127. A visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
