Nadine Lucas

CARBONDALE – Nadine Lucas, 91, of Carbondale, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.



She was born October 2, 1927 to Roy Lee and Anna (Conner) Flatt in Browning Township, Illinois. She married George Lucas, Jr. on September 4, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1996.



Nadine worked for over 35 years as an executive secretary with the Alumni Association of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She was an active member of the Marion Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with her friends.



Nadine is survived by her two sons, George Michael Lucas of Carbondale and Brian Jay Lucas of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.



She is preceded in death by her mother, Anna Flatt and husband, George Lucas, Jr.



Funeral services for Nadine will be 1 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with preachers Bill Brandstatter and Gerald Cowen officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale. Visitation will be 11 AM until 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.



Memorials may be made to the SIU Alumni Association, Marion Church of Christ or Freed-Hardeman University. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
