Minnie Rosetta Parker, 75, of Grand Tower, has passed on at 9:40 a.m., November 30, 2011, at Forest Creek Village, Indianapolis, IN. Minnie was born in Anna-Jonesboro, on February 11, 1936 to Oscar and Leona (Taylor) Sanders. She married John Calhoun on December 25, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1963. She later remarried to Walter (Bud) Parker on March 2, 1983. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1995. She is also preceded in death by three infant grandchildren, three brothers and one infant sister. Rose is survived by three sons; John Stephen Calhoun of Avon Park, FL, Gary Wayne Calhoun of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Jessie Jerome Calhoun of California; three daughters; Kathryn May Yaksushiji of Laguna Woods, CA, Janetta Sue Fredrick of Indianapolis, and Nancy Jo Wells of Greenbier, AR; two brothers Oscar Sanders of Murphysboro, and William (Willy) Sanders of Anna-Jonesboro; and three half -sisters, Marty Ford of Whitewater, MO, Pam Moore of Sikeston, MO, Patricia Lance of Anna, IL and one-half brother, Roy Swafford of Anna, IL. Rose was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Rose was a member of First Baptist Church of Grand Tower. She had lived in Grand Tower from 1972 until she moved in 2005. In 2005 Rose moved to Indiana to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Janetta and Edward Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 5, 2011 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Reverends Donald and Sharon Fralick officiating. Interment will be in Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower, IL. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Grand Tower and will be accepted by the funeral home.
