CARBONDALE – Michael Ann “Mickey” Johnson, 49, passed away 7:43PM on June 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Mickey was born August 16, 1968 to Ralph and Shirley (Ormseth) Johnson in Minneapolis, MN.
Mickey grew up in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated in 1986 from Washington High School. Mickey was also a passionate Minnesota Vikings fan. Her love for sports came from playing softball for close to 15 years and bowling on several leagues before she left Sioux Falls. And she will live forever in the hearts of anyone who had the honor to know her. She started her undergraduate education at John A. Logan College and then continued onto Southern Illinois University at Carbondale earning her Master’s Degree in History. Her incredible curiosity for facts and storytelling made her yearn to know and discover more, a true history buff. Her legendary contributions consist of a vast body of original work and research for her dissertation as a doctoral candidate. She would say to know our future, we need to remember the past. Her caring nature led her on a path to help people and she will truly be missed. Mickey worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services division of Rehabilitation Services for several years.
Mickey is survived by her mother, Shirley Buseman and husband Ervin of Chancellor, SD; half-brothers, Chuck Johnson of Fulton, MO, Martin Johnson of Bowling Green, MO and Chris Johnson of Galveston, TX; step-brothers, Steven Buseman of Aldie, VA and Chris Buseman of Sioux Falls, SD; and many friends and relatives.
