Melissa Marie Reynolds

CARBONDALE – Melissa Marie Reynolds, 40, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in Nashville, TN.

Melissa was born on March 10, 1982, in Rock Island, to Katrina Lynne (Hexamer) Bigler.

Melissa is survived by her four daughters: Kara (William) Cook, Kuri Spivey, Ayrian and Arianna; her mother, Katrina (John R) Bigler of Carbondale; siblings, Chantiel (Patrick) Attmore of Portland, OR., Amy Bigler of New York, NY., Sarah Bigler of FL., and John T Bigler of Carbondale; grandparents, Tom and Eve Hexamer of De Soto; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil and Vera Carmichael of Rock Island, William and Carol Chisholm of Milan, and John F and Karen Bigler of Carbondale.

Melissa loved her daughters and she loved being a kid with her girls. They enjoyed playing with crafts, games, makeup, cooking, and baking together. She was a cheerleader at De Soto Elementary and Carbondale Community High School. Missy's team was one of the First Cheerleading groups to win 1st place in IHSA Illinois State Cheerleading Competitions and won many trophies, medals, and ribbons. Softball was another sport she loved so well. In 2011, Melissa won the “Volunteer of the Year Award" from the SIUC Headstart Program at her daughter's school for her volunteer work, and as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, she went to Illinois State Capitol….and of course….she stood her ground and achieved. Melissa was quite the competitor at whatever goal she set out to achieve. Her drive, ambition, and love will be greatly missed by us all.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm at Meredith Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2022 with Rev. John Annable officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
