CARBONDALE – Matthew Ian Holloway, 49, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021.



Matthew was born on October 28, 1971 to Frederick B. and Barbara A. (Hill) Holloway in Carbondale, Illinois.



Matthew is survived by his mother, Barbara; brother, Brian; sister-in-law, Salina; and nephew, Jonathon.



He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Harold U. Hill, Vesta W. Hill and Thora S. Holloway; and uncle, David A. Holloway.



Matthew was a graduate of Carbondale Community High School. He also attended Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design.

He was a creative artist with a passion for detail who consistently worked to improve his skills. He was proficient in several art mediums such as pencil drawing, painting and computer aided design. He was also a talented guitarist with a great love of music.



He was a loving and supportive son and brother, as well as a proud uncle. He was very thankful for his family and was a devoted caregiver in times of need. He and his family were extremely blessed for their time together and he will live on in their hearts and memories.



Private services will be held. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.



Memorials may be made to the SIH Foundation – Cancer Institute or American Cancer Society.



Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale assisted the family with arrangements.
