Mary Ann Snider

DESOTO - Mary Ann Snider, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Manor Court of Carbondale. 

 Mary Ann was born on February 7, 1938 in Hurst to Frank and Mildred (Spytek) Olkoski.  Mary married George Snider on April 21, 1961 in Carbondale. 

 Mary Ann worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale until her retirement after 45 years of service.  She enjoyed being outside in her garden, cooking, sewing, volunteering, slot machines at casinos, and collecting by going to flea markets.

 Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Snider; daughter, Sharli Snider (Jeff Toberman) of De Soto; son, Warren (Fredica) Snider of Carterville; sisters, Jeanie (Carol) Lingle of Dongola, Karen Hemphill of Hurst and Sharon (Ronald) Brooks of Hammond, IN.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Frank Olkoski, Jr., Judith Weyburg, and Rudy Olkoski.

 A Memorial Service for Mary Ann will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Tom Stearns officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.  

 Memorials may be made in Mary Ann’s name to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Jackson County Humane Society.
