CARBONDALE – Marie Evelyn Yow, 99, of Carbondale passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born on October 25, 1922 to Harmon and Mae (Koen) King in Murphysboro. She married John Yow on July 27, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, MO and spent over 77 years making memories. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2018.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Mary Frances Crawshaw and Linda Morton; two grandchildren, Rick Crawshaw and Kim Crawshaw; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Cole, Ciara Cole, and Tori Keller; four great-great grandchildren, Essence Haynes, Miles Ryan Martin, Athena Grace Hallman, and Zach Hallman; brother, Ray (Marie) King; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; grandson, Philip Keller; son-in-law, Gary Morton; and several brothers and sisters.
Marie worked as a sales associate at JCPenney and K-Mart until she retired. She attended Murdale Baptist Church in Carbondale. She also loved to work in her garden, enjoyed any outside activity, cooking, and family gatherings.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale with Andrew Hastie officiating. Mausoleum entombment will immediately follow the service.
