Margaret D. Wood

Margaret D. (Mighall) Wood, age 93, of Manitowoc, WI passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at her son’s home surrounded by her loving family. 

Margaret was born September 29, 1931 in Surrey, England, daughter of the late Harry and Phoebe (Jones) Mighall. Margaret and her family immigrated to America in 1954 and pursued the American Dream. Margaret was united in marriage to Paul S. Wood on July 25, 1959 in La Crescent MN and immediately moved to Manitowoc, WI. She worked as a legal secretary and devoted herself to her family. Margaret was an accomplished knitter and enjoyed creating beautiful objects; watching the Packers game was an opportunity to knit a hat. 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Jeanne Wood, Carbondale, IL; her daughter-in-law Maria Wood, Rochester, NY; four grandchildren: Nicole, Kasey, Paul and Jacob, and one great-granddaughter; one brother Ivor and three sisters Ruby, Grace and Jean as well as other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Paul, her son, Stephen, her parents, 3 older brothers, and one older sister. 

A private family memorial was held. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). 

Margaret's remains will be laid to rest at Prospect Hill Cemetery, La Crescent, MN at a later date.
