Marcia Lee Bittle

Makanda – Marcia Bittle, 73, passed away on March 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Marcia was born November 14, 1951 to David and Lora (Forby) Stearns. She married Richard Bittle on May 10, 1968 at Boskeydell Baptist Church. 

Marcia worked most of her life. She helped in family business when her family ran Stearns Locker Plant and later at Haven of Love LTD, where she worked until she retired. Marcia also was employed with Hopkins County School System while she and Richard resided in Madisonville, Kentucky.

Marcia is survived by her mother Lora, husband Richard, her in-laws Bob and Gin Bittle, her son Richard D. (Kathy) Bittle, Daughter Brandi, and three granddaughters, Katie (Jon) Davis, Leah (Brandon) Lewis, and Brooke Inman. She is also survived by her sister Veronica Kinley, brother Michael (Barb) Stearns, sister-in-law Jean (Gerald) Lindsey, and Chris Bittle. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. 

Marcia leaves a legacy of love to her five great-grandchildren, who knows her by Gigi; Paisleigh, Kaislyn, Aiden, Ellianna and Ariyah. She’s also expecting Naomi, in July.

Her father, David L. Stearns and brother-in-law Everett Bittle proceed her.

Marcia’s pastor, while living in Madisonville, Roy Ellis, will be officiating her final service.

Funeral Service for Marcia will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at Meredith Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In Marcia's honor, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Marcia was a vibrant spirit whose laughter and warmth touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
