Lula Rae "Lou" Bigler
CARBONDALE - Lou Bigler was born on February 9, 1933. She passed away on March 24, 2025.
She was born in Ware, Illinois to Stanley and Verna (Davis) Kinder.
She graduated Wolf Lake High School and attended SIU in Carbondale. Lou started work with General Telephone Company, then Memorial Hospital of Carbondale Admitting Department. She then worked at Jackson County Health Department until she retired at the age of 72 and went on to work at Auffenburg of Carbondale and retired again at age 82.
She loved being busy with crafts, hot air balloons, baking, quilts, family and special neighbors.
Survivors include one sister, Kaye Bovey of Battle Ground, WA; daughters, Cynthia Carter of Champaign, IL and Dayna (David) Dechent of Denver, CO; one son, Philip (Brenda) Lannom of Alto Pass, IL; her grandchildren who she truly loved, Kelly Byant of Champaign, IL, Philip II (Melinda) Lannom of Carbondale, IL; Brandi McDonald of Macomb, IL, Nikki Dechent of Denver, CO, Casey Dechent of Denver, CO, and Kevin Clover of O'Fallon, IL; and seven great grandchildren who she loved.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Howard Kinder of Nashville, IL; sister, Gerry Magder of Pleasanton, CA and her husband, Joe Bigler.
Graveside services for Lou will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the graveside service.
