Lucia Leyva Tomas

CARBONDALE – Lucia Leyva Tomas, 20, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at her home.



Lucia was born on June 23, 2001 to Irineo Leyva and Rosaura Tomas in Carbondale, Illinois.



Lucia is survived by her parents, brother, Juan Diego Leyva; sisters Cindy and Angelica (Salvador Charicatah) Leyva, and her beloved nieces.



Lucia was loving woman who recently enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. She was passionate about her family, especially her dogs and nieces. Lucia always treated everyone equally and cared for everyone. She was very outgoing and happy.



Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Uriel Salamanca officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis CARE Animal Rescue in Murphysboro, Illinois.
