Lois Fern Jones

Carbondale - Lois Fern Jones, 90, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on February 1, 2013, at Carbondale Rehab and Nursing Center, Carbondale. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Rev. Roger Moore officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, on Monday, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Passages Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home. Lois was born May 7, 1922 in Jasper County, to Millard Alvin and Katherine Ruth (Stamm) Martin. She married E.C. Jones in Jackson, Missouri, Sunday, November 24, 1940, by Clyde Baugh, justice of the peace. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1996. Survivors include, two daughters, Janice (Lenoard) Snyder of Tunnel Hill and Phyllis (Richard) Simons of Carbondale; one sister, Marcella Geraldine Wilson of Carbondale; five grandchildren, Shannon Morse of Elkville, Cameron Dietz of Belleville, Carolyn Bates of Broomfield, Colorado, Clifford Bell of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Alvin Bell of Salem, Wisconsin; eleven great-grandchildren, Shane Maxey, Terra Fowlkers, Chad Maxey, Loren Smith, Lacey Bates, Taeler Dietz, Cassidi Dietz, Crystal Bell, Clifford Lee Bell, Katherine and Kristin Todd; five great-great grandchildren, Riely and Logan Maxey, Cailyn and Tyler Fowlkers and Ava Maxey; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Jones of Heber Springs, Arkansas. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, E.C., infant daughter, Sharon, grand-daughter, Sheila Todd, infant great-granddaughter, Theresa Maxey, infant great-grandson, Michael Dietz, and two son-in-laws, Gary Bell and Ed Chesnick. She was a member of the Church of God in Carbondale and the State Universities Annuitants Association #4699.
