Linda J. West

Linda J. West, 61, of DeSoto passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Linda was born on March 30, 1950 in Charleston, Missouri to Bill and Joanna (Presson) Groves. She married William D. West Jr. on November 27, 1970 in DeSoto. She is survived by her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Cheri West of Carterville; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Jason Ferrell of Herrin; her mother and stepfather Joanna and Wayne Skobel of Murphysboro; a sister and brother-in-law Mary and David Renner; and five grandchildren, Bailey West, Garrett Ferrell, Landon Ferrell, and Aaron Ferrell, and Madelynn West. She is preceded in death by her father Bill Groves. Linda attended Murphysboro Beauty College in 1968 and was a cosmetologist for 43 years in which she made many friends and touched the lives of many people. She was a member of the Christ Community Church in Murphysboro for 30 years. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Christ Community Church in Murphysboro with Dr. Phillip Nordstrom officiating. Interment will be at DeSoto Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday, January 6, 2012 at the funeral church. Memorials may be made to Christ Community Church in Murphysboro and Hospice of Southern Illinois.
