Letha Buckley

MAKANDA - Letha Buckley, 84, of Makanda, passed away at 2:32 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012 at Carbondale Rehab and Nursing Center, Carbondale, IL. Letha was born on September 25, 1927 in Success, Arkansas to Dave and Leonia (Tilley) Nash. She married Calvin Buckley on October 17, 1942 in Reyno, Arkansas. He passed away on November 15, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ada Marie Buckley; a grandson, Steven Martin; two brothers, Frank and William Nash and three sisters; Eathel Buckley, Valerie Laughlin, and Loretta Parnell. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Annette Buckley of Cahokia; a daughter and son-in-law, Janette and Jack Peterman of Carbondale; five grandchildren, John (Tonya) Buckley Jr., Jeff (Shelli) Peterman, Lisa (Bob) Kaber, Janice (Bill) Wasmuth, and Jennifer (Al) Moutria; nine great grandchildren, Dallas, Justin, Dylan and his mother Karen, Jordan, Meagann, Ella, Matthew, Levi, and Mikaela; two brothers, Raymond Nash of Pocohontas, AR, and Thurman Nash of Poynor, MO; and five sisters, Pauline Buckley, Minnie Barber, and Janie Cresap of Maynard, AR, Delois Young of Pocahontas, AR, and Lorene Huffstutler of Paragould, AR. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with Rev. Wes Henson officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Carbondale. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale. Memorials may be made to Walnut Street Baptist Church Building Fund or to TIP Hospice and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home.
