Lawrence (Buzz) M. Busby

ANNA – Lawrence (Buzz) M. Busby, 67, passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 at 4:30 P.M. at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.



He was born on April 4th, 1950 in Harvey, Illinois. Lawrence graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights on June 13th, 1968 and immediately enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps Special Forces in Vietnam from June 1968 to June 1969; and received a Combat Action Ribbon. Lawrence re-enlisted into the army’s 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne Division) from June 1981 thru January 1986.



Lawrence was preceded in death by his father William E. Busby; his dearest sister Denise D. Horn (Busby); step-brother Carl Ahrendt; Lawrence is also survived by his mother Edith D. Ahrendt; step-father Donald A. Ahrendt; Step-brother Andrew Ahrendt (Gayle); Step-Sisters, Kristine Kovac (Steven) and Renata Ahrendt; Brother-in-Law David Horn; and Nephew Nicholas Horn. He will be dearly missed by his family; dear friends and staff at Veteran’s Home in Anna. SEMPER FI.



We will forever miss him dearly, his smile, laughter, and his striking blue eyes.



Memorial Services with Military Rites will be held at Meredith Funeral Home: 300 South University Avenue., Carbondale, Illinois 62901: http://www.meredithfh.com on Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 starting at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Alan Rhein will be the officiant at the service.
