Larry Palmer

Thomas Larry Palmer, 59, of West Frankfort, formerly of DeSoto, went to live with the Lord in His heavenly home, Friday, May 17, 2013 at 5:55 a.m. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the Homestead House in West Frankfort. He was born on August 20, 1953 in Jackson, Michigan to Thomas George and Roberta Mae (Barnett) Palmer. Survivors include a brother, John Edward Palmer of Kankakee; an aunt, Mary K. Barnett of Hurst; cousins, Pamela (Steve) Skaggs of Cobden, Douglas Barnett of Hurst, and Susan Barnett of Herrin. He is preceded in death by his mother, Roberta M. Palmer, his stepfather, Orville Palmer, his maternal grandparents Lula Mae and Herschel Barnett; two uncles, Jerry Lavern Barnett and Bobby Gene Barnett. Larry graduated from Stubin School in Kankakee and moved back to DeSoto in March 1998. He moved to the Homestead House in West Frankfort in December 2003. While he lived at Homestead House, he worked at Progress Port, Carterville. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly in Anna. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 the Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with Pastor Bon Reynolds officiating. Friends may call at the Meredith Funeral Home, from 11:00 a.m. to service time on Monday. Interment will be in the DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto. Memorials may be made to the Homestead House, West Frankfort and will be accepted at the funeral home.
