ELKVILLE - Kimberly Kay Winget, 59, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Born on March 8, 1964 in Murphysboro, the youngest child of Hobert and Charlotte (Clough) Winget. She was a joy to the family and the De Soto neighborhood that she grew up in. Kim never met a stranger and was always compassionate to people and animals. She was very outspoken about everything she believed in. Kim was of the Christian Faith, she loved music, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Kim earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting at John A. Logan College. She worked in the retail industry for many years to include Wal-Mart where she was involved in many departments.
Kim is survived by her longtime partner, Gene Kristoff; brother, Sam and Renae Winget, sister, Charla and Jerry Childress, brother, Hobie Winget; niece, Samantha Winget; nephews, Kevin Winget, Gary Winget and Jeremy and Katie Childress; and four great nieces and one great nephew. Kim is also survived by a host of family and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Sheri Childress.
A Celebration of Kim's Life, hosted by the family will be held from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Emily's Eatery and Events located at 302 Union Avenue; Dowell, IL 62927.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kim's name to your local animal shelter.
