Kimberly Ione Treger

CARBONDALE - Kimberly "Kim" Ione Treger of Carbondale, Illinois passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, March 30, 2022 from complications of pneumonia.



Kim was born March 13, 1962 in Chicago, and graduated from New Trier HS in 1980. After extensive travel in Europe Kim earned her BFA from SIU-C in 1987, where she excelled in printmaking.



In the 1990s, Kim founded "Walk the Line", a retailer of distinctive women's shoes and accessories in Carbondale. Kim was active in Main Street and other civic activities in Carbondale. Kim was known for her brilliant wit and humor, and her love of animals.



Kim is survived by Kevin Koron, her loving husband of 29 years, also a graduate of SIU. Kim is also survived by her brother Mark (Kristen) Treger, sister-in-laws Carolyn (Scott) Parise, and Elizabeth (William) Bergstrom, brother-in-law Jay Affleck, nieces Austin Rae Downey, Megan Parise, and nephew Nicholas (Erin) Parise, and many loving cousins and friends including her closest lifetime friend Nikki Limper.



Kim is preceded in death by her loving mother Florence "Toni" Treger (Oswald), and doting grandparents Ignatz and Johanna Oswald.



Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to St. Francis CARE animal shelter of Murphysboro, IL.
