Kenny Wayne Cowan

CARBONDALE - Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Cowan, age 59, of Carbondale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at Unity Point School in Carbondale with Pastor Ed Falgout officiating. Burial will follow in Makanda Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the Unity Point School in Carbondale.

Kenny was born on October 2, 1965 in Carbondale; the son of Kenneth L. Cowan and Glenda L. (Stewart) Cowan.

Kenny previously worked at Associated Lumber in Carbondale and also as a manager at the Du Quoin yard; and the South Highway Water District. He worked at Unity Point School District in the early 1990s and then again starting in May 2020 as grounds and building maintenance and bus driver. He enjoyed motorcycle and jeep riding, splitting fire wood and spending time with family and friends. He was attending First Baptist Church of Cobden. Kenny was very kind and caring to everyone he met. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving is his parents, Kenneth and Glenda Cowan of Herrin; sister, Kimra L. Brand and husband James of Herrin; fiancé, Sara Sellers and son, Joey; brother-in-law, Kenny Heern of Thompsonville; nieces and nephews, Jared Warren, Kendra Jones, Ross Heern, and Jacob Warren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Sue Heern.

Memorials in Kenny's name may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses or the Shingleton Fund and will be accepted at the school.
