Carbondale - Katherine 'Kay' Rae Booth, 70, of Carbondale, passed away 10:15 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Kay was born in Anna on September 6, 1942 to Raymond William and Mary Helen (Hodge) Buchacker. They precede her in death. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Billy Joe Koepsel of Carbondale; two sisters, Linda Sue and Nancy Lea Buchacker of Carbondale; Donna's father and his wife, Donald and Audrey Booth of Elkville. Kay was of Methodist faith. She worked as a Beautician for many years at a variety of places, as well as a Building Service Worker 1 for SIU in Carbondale for 25 years until her retirement on April 30, 2003. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Meredith Funeral Home with Pastor Sonja Ingebritsen officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Siteman Cancer Center, PO Box 8100, Saint Louis, MO 63110, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
