Kathryn “Kathy” Marie Andrescavage (nee Horn), 76, was born in Belleville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lt. Colonel Richard K. and Patricia M. Horn and was the oldest of seven brothers and sisters. A child of an Air Force Officer, Kathy moved several times throughout her childhood and often spoke fondly of her family’s time in Maine, New York, and Okinawa, Japan. She later met the love of her life, Leonard J. Andrescavage, in Satellite Beach, Florida, where both her father and Leonard were stationed. Kathy and Leonard have been married for nearly 57 years.
Kathy and Leonard moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in their early years of marriage and later settled in Southern Illinois near Lick Creek. Kathy has three children: Rebecca, Leonard II, and Andrew.
Kathy received her LPN and Registered Nursing Degrees from Shawnee Community College and was a nurse for nearly 30 years. Kathy loved the nursing field, and during her career, she worked at multiple medical facilities throughout Southern Illinois and retired her career after serving with Hospice Care of Southern Illinois.
In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, had a green thumb with all types of house plants, loved outdoor gardening and traveling to South Carolina with Leonard, and enjoyed anything related to fairies and gnomes. She especially enjoyed having her family gathered with a houseful of laughter. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her Facebook friends and family and chatting with her nurse friends and sisters.
Kathy has 9 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild: Alaina Weeks, Catherine (Nick) Rives, Trevor, Anthony, and Michael Andrescavage, Noah, Austin, Graham, and Isaiah Andrescavage, and Great-Granddaughter Melanie Rives. Kathy loved her visits with her family and especially looked forward to holiday gatherings with them.
