DE SOTO - Karen Ann Crow, 73, passed away on December 22, 2023 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born on September 6, 1950 in Carbondale to Marion and Iva (Hill) Lewis. Karen married Jesse Crow on February 12, 1971 in Murphysboro.
Karen worked as a bookkeeper for many years and provided childcare in her home before attending cosmetology school. She was a licensed cosmetologist for over 35 years. She also worked as a secretary for Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carbondale before retiring. Above all else, was her unwavering commitment to her family, church family, and service to Jesus.
Karen loved collecting antiques. She saw value in things others may throw away and made it pretty again. She appreciated attention to details and always noticed your shoes. She was devoted to her faith in Christ and had a passion for children's and youth ministry. Over the last 20 years she has been an advocate for PHA being a 21 year survivor of pulmonary hypertension herself. Her family will deeply miss 'the unconditional love she showed us, her comforting care and compassion, her gentle voice, and the ways she made us laugh.'
Karen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jesse Crow of De Soto; daughter, Sara Crow of Carterville; son, Heath (Donna) Crow of Murphysboro; granddaughter, Haylee Crow; brother, Ken (Patty) Lewis of St. Genevieve, MO; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Darlene (Lewis) Holder, brother-in-law James 'Delvin' Holder, sister-in-law Patti (Elliott) Lewis, father-in-law Jesse W Crow, mother-in-law Betty (Jones) Heiar, and step father-in-law Howard E Johnson.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, Pastor Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rivers of Living Water Fellowship Church in DeSoto and will be accepted at the funeral home.
