DESOTO - We mourn the passing and celebrate the extraordinary life of Joyce Louise Dailey-Hanson, a devoted mother, beloved grandmother, who peacefully departed this life on July 3rd, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Her journey was one of resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
Born on April 20,1942, Joyce grew up in DeSoto, IL. to the parents of Myrtle and Walter Dietz. She learned the values of resilience and determination that shaped her character throughout her life. From a young age, she embraced the responsibilities of motherhood with grace and courage. Her first marriage to Charles Edward Dailey blessed her with 3 children, whom she raised with boundless love and tireless dedication. Though she experienced the loss of her beloved husband, Charles, Joyce found love again, meeting Merle L Hanson in July 1971, later marrying on August 10, 2006, expanding her family circle with his daughter and family. Together, they embraced life's joys and challenges.
Her career as a mail carrier spanned many years, during which she served her community with diligence and a warm smile. Rain or shine, she faithfully delivered mail to her neighbors, forging connections and brightening their days with her cheerful demeanor. Outside of work, she was an avid reader, loving mystery novels, and went fishing/camping with family.
