Joseph Yucas

MAKANDA - Joseph L. Yucas, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO.

Joseph was born on December 25, 1951 in Vandergrift, PA to Anthony and Connie Yucas. Joseph married Brenda Snyder on May 31, 1975 in the Penn State Chapel at State College, PA.

Joseph was a professor in Mathematics at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for thirty-six years. He enjoyed playing billiards around Southern Illinois and he loved to play the guitar.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife Brenda; daughter, Jennifer Yucas and daughter-in-law, Kayla Shults of Makanda; and nephew, Alex Yucas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Yucas.

A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. A time of reflection and sharing will be at 7:30 pm on Friday.

Memorials may be made in Joseph's name to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
