Jon Daniel Davey

CARBONDALE – Jon Daniel Davey, 71, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Herrin Hospital.

Jon was born on August 21, 1952 to John Douglas and Vicky (Cray) Davey in Buffalo, New York.

Jon is survived by his sons, Jared Davey and Brooks Davey, brother Bruce Davey, life partner Barb Cypin, and many extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Brent Davey, and nephew Jeffrey Scott Davey.

Jon was a beloved father, educator, and world traveler. He served in the US Army from 1972 until 1975. He was a passionate professor in architecture and received his doctorate at SIU in 2011. Jon created architect camps for children of all ages, including Kid Architecture and The Architecture Camp. These camps introduced young people to the built environment. He had many memberships to professional organizations.

A celebration of Jon’s life will be on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Quigley Hall at SIUC, 875 S. Normal Ave., from 1:00 pm until 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bucky Fuller Dome Home Preservation Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Jon Davey Scholarship by SIU Foundation.
