John M. O'Connor

Alto Pass - John M. O'Connor, 72, passed away at 5:47 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with his loving family by his side. John was born July 28, 1942 in Rochester, NY. He married the love of his life, Judith L. Sartore on September 24, 1971 in Wheaton. Together they shared 43 years of marriage. She survives and is of Alto Pass. John is also survived by his son, Adam O'Connor of Alto Pass; daughter, Sarah (Ryan) Bennett of Springfield; two grandchildren, Alex and Jake; sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. One of his life's goals, was to complete his Bachelor's degree, which he did, two years ago at the age of 70. He had been employed at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in the Physical Plant Service Department. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 - 1965 as a Deckhand. Services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) 139 E.
