Carterville - Joe Cash, 72, of Carterville, formerly of Macomb, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015, in Mt. Vernon Healthcare Center. Joe was born August 27, 1942 in Macomb, to Carroll Frazier and Elizabeth "Betty" Mae (Leftridge) Cash. He married Diane (Lingenfelter) Nalley on August 6, 1988 in Carbondale. She survives and is of Carterville. Joe is also survived by his daughter, Christie A. Krejci of LaGrange Park; three stepsons, Douglas (Trudy) Nalley of Columbia, David (Bonnie) Nalley of Carbondale, and Derick (Dawn) Nalley of Herrin; brother, John Cash of Macomb; grandchildren, A. Stefan Weston, Charles Robert and James Michael Krejci, Kimberly Sue, Isaiah James, Christopher Bowan, Justin Parson, Hunter Thomas and Parker Steven Nalley, and Aubrey Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Ryan Cash, and a brother, Thomas Cash. In 1970 he completed his Master of Science in Education, Technical and Industrial Education, Junior College Technical Career Teaching at SIU Carbondale. He continued his education and in 1996 he completed his Ph.D. in Workforce Education & Development from SIU Carbondale. Joe enjoyed teaching and became an Assistant Professor for the Automotive Technology Department at SIU Carbondale, until his retirement in 1998. He proudly served in the United States Army from July 1965 - April 1967. Joe and his family are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale. A Memorial service for Joe will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale with Pastor Janice West officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service. A graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, will be held at a later date. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale.
