James "Jim" Glover

CARBONDALE - James "Jim" Robert Glover, 94, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Jim was born in Makanda Township on September 11, 1929 to William Hiram and Mary (Damron) Glover. He married Betty L. Sutton on March 12, 1954 in Carbondale, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2010.

Jim served his country in the US Army. He worked for Selmier Peerless Towel and Linen Service for 19 years and retired as an Assistant Manager from Associated Lumber Company after 16 years.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon (Roger) Lipe of Carbondale, Patty Lyde of Pueblo, CO and Donna (Henry) Yorac of the Philippines; son Lynn (Iris) Glover of Carterville; 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 5 sisters, and grandson Justin Lyde.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro with Pastors Jim Jackson and Gary Darnell officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the graveside service.
