Jacquelin Latham Allen, 90, passed away 8:28 a.m., July 25, 2014 at Carbondale Rehab & Nursing Center with her children by her side. Jacquelin was born to Warren Wright and Frances (Latham) Wright on June 10, 1924 in Westbury, New York. She married Maurice Allen on July 11, 1964 in Virginia. He passed away on July 7, 2005. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Wright. Jacquelin is survived by a daughter, Sally Potter-McIntyre of Carbondale; a son, Harry Allen of North Bergen, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Lillian and Alexis McIntyre, and James Potter, all of Carbondale; a brother, Hamilton Wright of Stony Point, New York; and a sister Elizabeth Collins of Sheffield, England. She was a lieutenant in the US Army and worked to set up Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii during the Korean War. She served as an occupational therapist treating wounded service personnel that requiring long-term rehabilitation. After her time in the service, she continued to work as a civilian at VA Hospitals. Jacquelin continued her career in Rhode Island, where she and her husband raised their children and later lived on a motor cruiser. She was also an avid snow skier throughout her life. As per her wishes, she will be cremated, and her remains will be interred next to her husband in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, in Johnston, Rhode Island at a later date.
