Harry E. Kirk

MURPHYSBORO – Harry E. Kirk, 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his home.



On October 5, 1944 he was born to Harry and Evelyn (Pegg) Kirk in Chicago. He married Doren Mersbach on September 14, 1968 in Chicago.



Harry proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He owned and operated the Carbondale nightclub, TJ McFly’s. Harry also worked for Boyd Brothers Transportation where he served as the regional sales manager until his retirement in 2013. Harry and his business partner John operated IKL Properties. His passion was traveling around the world with Doren. Together they visited dozens of countries and took forty-six cruises. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and great uncle and will be missed by all who knew him.



He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Doren; daughters, Patricia Parks and her husband Duane and Sharon Kirk-Swan and her husband Shawn; son, Steven Kirk; grandchildren, Nickolas Kirk, Noah Parks, Ayden, Korbin and Chalon Swan; step grandchildren Mariah and Dalton Parks sister, Peggy Goetsch; niece, Katherine Thayer and her husband Jason; nephew, Christopher Goetsch, great nephew Caleb Thayer and John Lundeberg best friend and partner in crime of 30+ years.



Harry was preceded in death by his parents.



A memorial service for Harry will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Visitation will be held from 2 until 4p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with full military rites will be held at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
